The Commercial Space Marketplace for Innovation and Collaboration (COSMIC) has been newly established from the combined efforts of the Space Force’s Space Systems Command (SSC) and the Virginia Tech Applied Research Corporation (VT-ARC). Through this new partnership, COSMIC will offer an environment and suite of services that support the Space Systems Command’s vision to deliver Commercial Space Capabilities to support Global Mission Priorities and Joint Warfighters.

The upcoming webinar, presented by COSMIC and the Inter Astra Institute, features Dr. Janet Kavandi, former NASA Astronaut, former Director of NASA’s Glenn Research Center, and past President of Sierra Space. Her career spans three spaceflights, leadership at one of NASA’s premier research centers, and executive influence in the commercial space industry.

Department of the Air Force Data and AI Governance Conference 2024

The DAF Data and AI Governance Conference was a week long event that brought together data and AI officers from across the Department of the Air Force—spanning the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force—for a focused, collaborative working session. The goal was to establish a unified baseline across the enterprise and align priorities for the upcoming fiscal year. Over the course of the offsite, participants worked to develop integrated FY25 strategic action plans that will drive data and AI initiatives forward, ensure alignment with broader DAF objectives, and accelerate operational impact across both services.

MILSATCOM Reverse Industry Day 2024

This two-day event brought together key stakeholders from government, industry, and academia to explore the art of the possible in future MILSATCOM technologies. Through a series of panels, presentations, and collaborative discussions, participants identified emerging trends, addressed critical capability gaps, and shared innovative ideas to shape the next generation of military satellite communications. The event served as a dynamic forum for exchanging insights, fostering partnerships, and aligning efforts to ensure resilient, cutting-edge solutions for the warfighter.

TacSRT TAP Lab Warfighter Engagement Forum 2025

The TacSRT TAP Lab WEF successfully brought together the TacSRT community to strengthen collaboration and deepen understanding of Space Component challenges. The event showcased commercial capabilities and helped shape future development efforts for the TacSRT TAP Lab—enhancing its ability to support Space Components more effectively. The forum gave DoD and industry partners a valuable opportunity to hear directly from Space Component representatives about their challenges, priorities, and mission-critical gaps. By driving collaboration and knowledge-sharing, the event laid the groundwork for future innovation and stronger support of the TacSRT mission.

United States Space Force Data and AI Capabilities Conference 2025

This event highlighted the latest developments in data and AI, bringing cutting-edge innovations closer to the warfighter. Presenters showcased the most relevant tools in data, automation, AI, and GenAI—many already in production or on track for ATO. A key part of the event was dedicated to sharing real-world case scenarios and success stories, demonstrating how Guardians have leveraged these technologies to accelerate decision-making within operational units.

COSMIC is currently available to Space Force personnel and other government or industry partners with no fees or cost associated (As long as requirements are within existing PIA constraints). There is more that comes with the facility than just a place to work.
